Turn a PDF into a podcast
In Create a podcast, choose PDF, then tap Choose a PDF. Castella reads the text on its server and writes the episode from it.
- Size
- Up to 10 MB per file
- How many
- 3 PDFs per podcast, or 10 with an active plan
- Text
- It needs text you can select
- Locked
- Password-protected PDFs don’t work
- Where it’s read
- The PDF is uploaded, and its text is read on Castella’s server
- Sign-in
- You need to be signed in
Good to know
- Scanned PDF? The app will tell you it has no readable text. Copy the text into Text, or pick a PDF with selectable text.
- Locked PDF? Choose an unlocked copy, or paste its text.
- Over 10 MB? Choose a smaller PDF, or paste its text.
- You can’t send a PDF to Castella from another app. Pick the file from inside Castella.
How it works
- Open Create and choose PDF, next to Text and Link.
- Tap Choose a PDF and pick the file. Castella uploads it and reads the text on its server. You need to be signed in for this.
- Set the length and the hosts, then tap Create podcast. In your library, the episode goes from “Writing your conversation” to “Creating audio” to “Ready”.
The finished episode keeps the PDF under Sources, next to the transcript.
If the PDF doesn’t work
Castella needs text it can select. A scanned PDF is only a picture of a page, so there’s nothing to read. A PDF locked with a password won’t open either. In both cases, copy the text into Text instead. If the document is online, you can use a public article link.
